Congratulations to Black Srebnick Associate Jeanelle Gomez on her Appointment to the University of Miami School of Law Moot Court Board

Black Srebnick congratulates associate Jeanelle Gomez, who was recently invited to join the Moot Court Alumni Advisory Board at the University of Miami School of Law. The Board is an honorary organization that recruits and trains the finest oral and written student advocates and is the most prestigious advocacy program at Miami Law.

Jeanelle was the Inter-School Vice President of the Moot Court Board when she attended Miami Law, and has continued to support the Board and the John T. Gaubatz Moot Court Competition since graduation. The Gaubatz competition is the main moot court contest at Miami Law, and the top student competitors argue their respective positions in front of three distinguished federal and state court judges in Miami.

For the past three years, Jeanelle has also been the coach of the Miami Law team competing in the Siegenthaler – Sutherland Cup National First Amendment Competition. This is the oldest national moot court competition in the United States and takes place every year in Washington, D.C.

Jeanelle joined Black Srebnick as a law clerk in the summer of 2019 and was invited to join the firm as an associate at the conclusion of her clerkship. She has been an associate at the firm since the fall of 2020. While at Miami Law, Jeanelle competed in the Gaubatz Moot Court Competition and was awarded Best Overall in writing and oral advocacy of all incoming student board members. Jeanelle then competed in the Sutherland First Amendment Moot Court Competition, where she received the Best Appellate Brief award. Jeanelle also won the Honorable Stanford Blake award during the litigation skills program at Miami Law, which honors one student each semester who demonstrates excellence in trial advocacy.
